Glacier

This is the Columbia Glacier, the second-largest tidewater glacier in Alaska and also the fastest-melting one. Glaciers form in high-latitude and high-altitude regions where long-term snowfall exceeds snowmelt. Through processes like compaction and recrystallization, the accumulated snow gradually transforms into dense, hard, and slowly flowing glacial ice. Driven by gravity, this glacial ice ultimately forms a glacier.
